Where were you on 9/11?
It is seven years today since 9/11 happened. That was one of those moments that most people have etched into their memories.

At that time, Katie and I had been married a little over a year and our first child was just weeks away. In fact, I remember that the stress of the event caused a mini baby-boom. A lot of people went into labor early.
I was an intern pastor and had been teaching a class to the 8th graders when the first plane struck. I remember coming into the church office, hearing people tell me that New York was under attack and was watching live feed when the second plane crashed in. My first thought was that someone was shooting missiles.
Those were days where people were searching for God in a way that I have not seen since. I pray it doesn’t take another tragedy like that for us to seek him.
Where were you?

I was stuck in an airport in middle of TX. People were just huddled around the televisions. No one knew what to do and everyone was stranded.
I remember the mad rush that was on for rental cars. Some friends of ours had to rent a Uhaul to drive home because that was all that was left.

That was the kickoff day for our United Way fundraising event. We were decorating our cafeteria with red, white, and blue streamers and were supposed to serve breakfast and play games/give out prizes. Instead we turned the big tv’s on and stared in disbelief.

I was walking through the shell of our new home with the electrician deciding where lights and outlets needed to go. Kind of put things in perspective that in a moment everything can change.
