St. Patty's article

Found a interesting article called, “10 things you didn’t know about St. Patrick’s Day” on the Relevant Magazine website.  It’s great to know the day has deeper roots than green beer and parades!

There’s also a fun kid version of the story included in the Veggie Tales “Sumo of the Opera” DVD.

christian radio :(

March 11, 2008 at 12:29 pm (music reviews, radio)

So this topic has been on my heart for a few years now. Ever since moving back home to MN from Phoenix (which has great Christian radio), I have been deeply disappointed with the availability of Christian music in our market. Let me preface this by saying I think our local outlet does a great job in a lot of areas; missions, awareness, etc. I even graduated from the school which operates the station but I will not write them a pass on the quality and selection of music that is played (not to mention those self-promoting ads).

I’ll keep my rant short, but let me elaborate…

Often times I am asked where I found particular songs that we use in worship. Sometimes people will even go so far as to ask if I wrote them (a great compliment, but sorry…wasn’t me) and I’d be a rich man if I had a nickel ever time a song we sang in worship came out on our local station months after the fact! All this leads me to believe that we are being seriously deprived of some great music!

I mentioned earlier that Phoenix has great radio. Aside from having several locally based stations they also carry 2 very popular nationwide networks. KLOVE & Air1. These are sister stations under a larger umbrella of Christian media. Well imagine my surprise when I found that KLOVE started broadcasting a freq based in Cottage Grove! If you live in this area, you now have a choice! Turn your dial to 103.7 (there is also a 92.9 freq somewhere around St. Paul) and start living! Now granted the signal dies somewhere north of Bailey Rd, but it’s a start!! And I am just waiting for the day that Air1 begins to broadcast as well…

You can also catch these stations online 24/7 at www.klove.com & www.air1.com
